This was the question I got asked yesterday by an accountancy firm who are doing great things and always looking to better themselves and to give more value.
They wanted to know whether they should carry out their proposal meetings in front of the client or online via something like Skype or Zoom.
Now my preference is always to do it in front of the client in your own offices. And the reason for this is because you can manage the whole experience.
This is what we do in our firm and we have clients actually signing up during the meeting (using www.GoProposal.com obviously.) And there are 5 things I’m going to share with you as to how we really wow them and WHY we need to do it too.
But firstly, let me just deal with the online question.
Should we meet clients online?
So doing proposal meetings online can also work…. IF….. it’s right for that situation.
Carrying out meetings online allows you to…
- Engage clients who live a distance away from your office
- Increases the number of clients you can possibly work with
- Saves the client travel time
- Gets the meeting done much quicker
- Works well if trust has already been established
- Works well with existing clients for fee reviews
And if you’re going to do your meetings online, I would recommend Zoom as the video recording technology and user experience is better in my opinion.
And this same technology can also be used in your firm for other meetings with clients, so it’s a good investment from that point of view.
So let me show you how to wow.

How to wow
Here are 5 ways that we wow clients who come to our offices with some ideas thrown in from some other great accountancy firms I’ve visited too, such as Tayabali Tomlin, Northern Accountants and Meades & Co (whom I forgot to mention in the video but who do these things too.)
And more importantly WHY we need to wow clients.
You might think ‘we’re a firm of accountants, do we REALLY need to be doing all of these things’ and as you’ll see in this video, the answer is absolutely… YES!!!
If there’s something you do in YOUR firm to wow clients who visit your offices, then I’d love to hear what you do (so we can pinch it ha ha.)
