Smart engagement letters for smart accountants

For over 30 years Valerie Steward has worked with accountancy practices, helping them to develop their businesses and remain compliant.

She has authored and co-authored a number of technical guides, work programmes on audit and anti-money laundering and practical aids such as engagement letters as well as publications on practice management and the not for profit sector.

She specialises in the not for profit sector lecturing and advising on charities and cooperatives of all sizes. She is actively involved in the charity sector, acting as a trustee as well as her involvement in the technical aspects of the sector.

As Head of Standards, Ian led ACCA’s work in all areas of regulatory policy, including emerging areas such as legal services and anti-money laundering supervision. He sat on working groups concerned with areas such as legal services regulation, ethics, money laundering and financial crime (including at CCAB and Accountancy Europe), and was responsible for the development of the ACCA Rulebook.

Since leaving ACCA, Ian has pursued his interests as a consultant. He enjoys providing solutions in the various areas of professional ethics, regulatory compliance and support for small practices, and particularly enjoys focusing on anti-money laundering compliance solutions for professional bodies, accountancy practices and their clients.
